CommunityDNS server locations, capacity and DNSSEC services, grow and grow!

CommunityDNS is pleased to announce that its 20th location (New York, USA) went live on the 10th September 2008. This brings the total capacity of the CommunityDNS Anycast to just over 515billion queries per day, the largest capacity of any Anycast provider worldwide.

Currently, CommunityDNS handles approximately 5 billion queries per day, from 92 TLDs zones on the platform. Some TLDs are using their own IP addresses on the platform others are using IP space managed by CommunityDNS' team of network specialists.

CommunityDNS' strategy is to deploy as many instances as possible around the world to ensure Internet users of particular TLD zones receive very fast and low latency service. In addition, having widely distributed authoritative name resolution service is an effective deterrent against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) be that for standard DNS queries or the more demanding DNSSEC signed queries. CommunityDNS is DNSSEC enabled allowing any TLD seeking to have a reliable DNSSEC signed resource records from an anycast service using both IPv4 and IPv6 address space.

Additional server instances will be released in the near future and for more information on specific server locations and the activity at that chosen location, please see our map. Click on a green pin to see the activity at that specific location.

Its expanding network of Anycast server clusters is designed to "localize" traffic while giving participating DNS operators secure control their own zones and data, as well as tools to monitor and react to DNS events.
