Interfacing with the Community DNS Anycast Platform
The process of interfacing the DNS Operator’s master resolution server with the Community DNS Anycast Platform is simple, but requires participation by a Community DNS technician in order to maintain stringent security measures and to ensure proper set-up to meet the specific requirements of the participating Operator.
Summary of the Process:
Working with a Community DNS technician (via email) to obtain your FREE no obligation evaluation trial period (noc@CommunityDNS.eu):
-
Allow our Master Name Server to AXFR / IXFR the zone (or zones) from your Master Name Server.
-
Open any firewalls on port 53, TCP & UDP, to allow the AXFR / IXFR. If you want to use Dynamic DNS with TSIG, that is also possible - basically all standard DNS transfer protocols are supported;
-
Let us know what IP Address we should collect the zone(s) from;
- Add your CommunityDNS Name Server IP Address to your Zone, then use the CommunityDNS Web Management pages to monitor traffic and obtain service information, in real time. If after 30days free trial you are happy with the service you may need to update the TLD data in the Root Zone in which case contact IANA as usual. For second level domains (e.g. “co.za”), only changes to the internal zone files are required.
Once the Community DNS Anycast servers are added to the zone(s), the process is complete. You will then be able to access and manage its account and monitor, update and query all activity from web based tools provided by Community DNS at "Monitoring".
