CommunityDNS provides free IPv6 Anycast DNS resolution service to customers - 4th July 2008.
CommunityDNS is pleased to announce that its IPv6 Anycast network was activated on the 1st July 2008. All customers are allocated unique IPv6 Anycast IP addresses for their Anycast DNS resolution service.
Effective immediately any customer can place their allocated IPv6 address in their authoritative zone file to activate their IPv6 resolution service. Customers do not need to have access to native IPv6 as CommunityDNS will collect their Authorative Zone data via IPv4 in the normal way, and simply announce the Zone on both IPv4 and IPv6.
The CommunityDNS Anycast control management web interface available to each customer has both IPv4 and IPv6 information which makes IPv6 deployment as a seemless and easy to use for each customer.
With increasing pressure on the allocation of IPv4 address space, the Regional Internet Registries (like RIPE, ARIN, APNIC, LACNIC, and AFRNIC) are increasingly allocating IPv6 address space to customer in preference to IPv4.
